For many children, something as simple as a pair of prescription glasses can make a real difference to their school day. But in underserved communities, children with vision problems may go undiagnosed or be unable to access the eye care and spectacles they need.
Through Frames4Futures, Al Basar International Foundation aims to help children access eye examinations, prescription spectacles and appropriate treatment, giving them a better opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

The Classroom Challenge
For children with uncorrected vision problems, everyday classroom activities can become a challenge. They may struggle to read, lose concentration or fall behind in their schoolwork without understanding why.
Limited Eye-Care Access
In many communities, access to eye examinations and prescription spectacles remains limited. Families may face financial barriers, live far from eye-care services or simply be unaware that a child's difficulties at school could be linked to their vision.

How Frames4futures helps
Our approach goes beyond identifying children who may have vision problems. We aim to connect them with the care they need.
Finding children who need help
We work through school eye-screening activities to identify children who may have difficulty seeing clearly. Early identification helps ensure that possible vision problems are not overlooked.
Connecting children to eye care
Children who do not pass the screening are referred for further assessment by an appropriate eye-care professional. A comprehensive examination helps determine whether prescription spectacles, treatment or further specialist care is needed.
Providing prescription spectacles
For children who need glasses, we aim to remove financial barriers by providing prescription spectacles to those who cannot otherwise afford them. The right prescription can help children see more clearly and participate more comfortably in classroom activities.
Arranging treatment when needed
Not every vision problem can be corrected with glasses alone. Children who need medical treatment or specialist assessment are referred through appropriate eye-care pathways.
Following up to make a lasting difference
We aim to follow up with children who receive spectacles or are referred for further care, checking whether they have received the support they need and identifying any outstanding concerns.
